The First Step

Today I saw a Pepsi advert – and it had Firewalking in it! 🙂 It was Usher Firewalking no less.

Now I don’t want you all to run out and buy Pepsi BUT I am going to share the advert with you, because it makes a great point. It uses the phrase #HoldMyPepsi to represent someone preparing to take the first steps of a new challenge.

As a firewalk facilitator it’s my job to hold a lot of people’s Pepsi – that is, it is my job to fill people with confidence and passion for their ability to walk hot coals.

When anyone takes on a new challenge (that includes me) they often have baggage they need to put down, things from their past or their present that they need to let go of, to enable them to take the first step boldly into their new and exciting future. Whether it’s a new job, losing weight, saying goodbye to bad relationships, climbing a mountain, giving up smoking…. we all reach a point where we have to put to one side what’s in the way, and step out in faith that we have what we need.

The great thing about Firewalking is that your facilitator should enable you to reach a point where you are filled with that confidence and self-belief, and you are ready to step out onto the fire – such a powerful experience, and such a strong physical metaphor, can then be carried forward into all aspects of your life.  You’ll be so ready to put down your Pepsi in all of life’s challenges.

If you’re interested in learning more about how physical metaphors like firewalking can support you to face your own challenges, and lead others through theirs, why not join us at this years Physical Inspired Metaphors course – we’d love to see you there

I’ve carried out two fire walks. The first on my own the second I organised a group of women to take part. Both amazing experiences, and I would suggest to anyone thinking about it. Just do it… Oops wrong tag line.
